A.具有良好的滲透性
對鏈條來說，潤滑滾子和鏈輪是比較容易的，但潤滑鏈軸和軸套是比較困難的。由于軸和軸套的間隙非常小，且完全屬于開放的環(huán)境條件。潤滑油假如沒有很好的滲透性，就不能滲透到軸和軸套的內部，就不能潤滑軸和軸套。
B.要有良好的黏附性
鏈條在運行時，由于高速的作用，潤滑油會被甩脫。低速時潤滑油由于重力的作用會流滴。所有這些不僅會污染環(huán)境和產品，而且還會造成大量的浪費。因此要求潤滑油要具有良好的黏附性，能夠牢牢的黏附在摩擦表面，而不會因各種作用脫落。

潤滑油的作用之一就是潤滑，但是鏈條在運行中由于受到不同的作用時，會對潤滑油的潤滑性能要求更高，特別是那些重負荷和沖擊條件下的鏈條，對極壓抗磨性的要求就更高，因此一般的鏈條潤滑油都非常注重這方面的要求。

通常鏈條傳動都是工作在暴露的環(huán)境中，因此鏈條潤滑油要求具有良好的氧化安定性。

以上是鏈條傳動對潤滑劑的基本要求，當然還有很多其它要求，這些要求會因傳動鏈條使用的范圍、環(huán)境、設備要求等不同而側重點也不同。
